Relaxed fit is a shape, not just a bigger size

A relaxed garment leaves room through the body or leg. Going up a size can also change the sleeve length, waistband and overall length, so start with the measurements rather than the letter on the label.

Our styles do not all use the same size chart. Open the garment measurements on the product you want, then compare them with a similar item that already fits you comfortably.

How to choose a relaxed hoodie

Lay a hoodie you own flat, without stretching it. Compare its chest, shoulder, sleeve and body length with the measurements shown on the product page. Check whether a chest measurement represents the full circumference or the flat width; do not compare the two as if they were the same.

A pullover gives you a simple, continuous silhouette. A zip-up makes it easier to adjust your layers over a tee. If you plan to wear a thicker layer underneath, compare the available chest room before selecting your size.

How to choose loose-fitting sweatpants

Compare the waist, hip, thigh and length measurements that are available for the specific pair. A drawcord adjusts the waist; it does not create extra room through the thigh or seat.

Straight-leg sweatpants have an open, easy line down the leg. Joggers finish with a gathered cuff. For a roomier look, choose the silhouette you prefer and check its measurements instead of relying on a larger waist size.

Use a pair of pants you like as your reference. Product measurements are in inches. Where a chart lists garment length rather than inseam, compare the same measurement on your own pair.
